A Return to Working Big
After spending the past year refining and perfecting Studio J.E.D.’s ceramic lighting, I’ve been so thrilled to start pushing the work into a new scale.
This summer, I’ve begun creating custom dining tables and coffee tables, pairing hand-built ceramic bases with clear tempered glass tops.
There’s something incredibly exciting, and honestly empowering, about working this large again. It brings me back to my college and graduate school days, when I was making ceramic sculptures taller than I was. I’ve always loved the physicality of working at that scale: building something slowly by hand, figuring out the structural challenges as I go, and watching a really substantial object take shape in the studio.
These new tables feel like a continuation of that part of my practice, but in a completely new way. I love that a dining table can be this beautiful, sculptural object, but also the place where so much of life actually happens. Especially in such a busy, fast-moving world, sitting down around a table gives us a reason to slow down, share a meal, talk, celebrate, and spend real quality time with the people we love. I really love the idea of making pieces that become part of those moments.
Feeling really excited about a 72" gaterhing table for a sweet young family in the upper east side, this table is perfect for their dining room since there apartment is long and gorgeous.
I’m also about to begin work on a new custom 96” Agora dining table for a woman here in Brooklyn who is working with an interior designer on her home. She felt the table would be the perfect fit for the space, and I’m so excited to start building it for her. I especially love getting to make these pieces for specific homes and seeing how the scale, finish, and proportions come together with the rest of the room.
Each ceramic base is shaped entirely by hand in my Brooklyn studio and paired with a durable tempered glass top, which keeps the piece feeling light while allowing the ceramic form to remain fully visible. Tables can also be customized in size, proportion, and finish for the home they’re going into.
To celebrate this new chapter, I’m offering 30% off custom dining table commissions booked through August 31.
If you’ve been thinking about a dining table or coffee table for your space, feel free to reply with a photo and a few rough dimensions. I’m always happy to help think through sizing, finishes, or even create a rendering so you can visualize the piece in your home.
I’m so excited about where this work is going—and very grateful to have you following along as Studio J.E.D. continues to grow.
